This is just sad, took these pictures from an Asian fish forum. Who thinks these rays are natural? or who thinks some azz clown cut these rays up thinking they were creating a nice looking ray. This is just one of the worst things I have ever seen when will these guys from overseas stop mutilating fish for there own enjoyment.

If they are cut, does that mean bat man rays are cut as well???

Poor rays, I wonder how they would like someone cutting them up with scissors to make a buck. If you can't love a fish for it's own beauty then leave it in the river.
My vote is they were cut up!

Batman rays are natural born with defect at front of disk, these are for sure
man-made. If not both those rays won the genetics lottery.
Some things are just better off swallowed

How are these cuts different than bat man? Looks like they messed up the cut, and then covered up, by chopping the whole ray up to me...

If you look closely batman rays have rounded "cuts" while these ones have straight cuts. And also batman rays sometimes have uneven cuts while these guys are pretty symetrical. Theres some messed up people out there to do that...
Batman rays originated as a genetic mutation..
it held a huge price tag..
So of course, Asian fish culture would consider mutilating a ray to imitate a batman ray, and create that price tag.. Turning a $100 Motoro into a $10,000 Motoro is good business, only if your psychotic.
Spizzy, check out this read... namely the one at the bottom
http://www.stingraysource.com/StingraySource/dreamline/batman.htm
note: The opening statement could now be considered flawed.
Also.. if you look at the real batman rays, you will notice the way their snout is shaped and the way the discs are evenly undeveloped.. If you look at the pix of the mutilated, it looks as if the snout cuts attempt to heal up and grow back, but grow back unevenly.. However, I have seen Batman rays with unevenness in their development, such as Gr8s... so

wow that is discusting! I have read like 3 threads on mutilated rays today. These are even worst because they look man-made to me. Do you guys think the cut sections of the disk will grow back?

Anyone who can sit and mutilate any animal for a buck or just for fun, is totally devoid of any kind of emotion or feeling. Or simply put, Mental.

I wonder if those are recently dead rays that someone then cut as a joke or way to stir the pot. I can't image either ray would survive such injuries.

I doubt the ray survived and it is pretty distrubing. Saying that we do that all the time to animals, cropped tails and ears on dogs for example....

Did anybody know for sure hat this is man made? Or is this pure guess?
I ask because I know of a motoro with a very unusual defekt that was born at a zoo. So I know for sure that was a birth defect and is not man made:

THATS THE WORST YET. HOW DO RAYS SURVIVE THAT?? Thats tough to look at. IF SOMEONEV DID IT TO A CAT THEY WOULD BE IN DEEP CRAP. UGHH PISSES ME OFF
Any time an animal is mutilated for the owner's amusement is a terrible wrongdoing, and should be punishable by the law.

There are no (or very little, ineffective to our standards) animal rights laws in asia unfortunately.

yea, that is pretty sick, ive seen a few videos from china where the same ideas were being done to a few other animals. Its pretty increduble that these stringrays can live through that and then relearn how to manouver, hunt, and defend itself.....

looks like a Shovelnose Giutarfish:headbang2 But why are those little fish in with it:confused:
but yeah those Rays in the OP are not natural. I can take a paper plate and scissors and make it look just like those Stingrays.

I'm not for this at all, and it saddens me a lot, but at the same time, my father pointed out that we all do the same thing whether we realize it or not. We cut tails off of rotweilers, we shove holes in little kids ears for earrings, hell, we cut our dogs junk out!
Don't take me the wrong way though. This saddens me.

Will rays even survive torment of this magnitude? Thus, wouldn't this just be ahuge waste all around? No money, loss of good rays, etc.
