View Full Version : Aquarium Adventure Cleveland Closing
Yep it finally bit them in the rear with the way overpriced fish and merchandise. I went in the store today to buy some Prime since they are the only local store I found that had it and the store is almost completely bare. There are still some tanks and fish left including a nice Motoro Ray marked at $248 but everything in the store is 50% off so if you can get there fast and see whats left to scavenge. They still have some SW fish and LR left as well. Still kinda dumb in there if you ask me since they have a bunch of driftwood screwed to the wall and I asked how much they would sell it for and I was told its not for sale because they dont have a screw gun to get it off the wall and even when I said I had one in my truck the guy said no. :screwy: Just like the time I asked if I could buy some Malaysian Trumpet snails for my Malawi tank and they wouldn't sell me one of the probably hundred thousand they have in all their tanks.
Thanks, I'm going to have to get over there. Do they have any tanks left to sell?

...perhaps why they're closing. They don't want to sell anything and when they do, its waaay overpriced. I hope the $248 is not for a regular motoro and if it is, I hope it is huge!

I hate to tell you, but the $248 is probably for a normal motoro. The Aquarium Adventure here in Columbus sells little 5-6" motoros for $350, but at least they are always in great condition. Hopefully the AA here doesn't close also.

i have an aquarium adventure here too. they have a maybe 5" motoro for......$400. and another ray, labeled as "cobra stingray" for $800, which looks like nothing more than a large retic. most of the time they do have nice quality fish here. too bad they dont lower their prices a few bucks now, and end up making more later due to increased sales
i do like them for ghost shrimp however. now its 50 for $8. it was 100 for $8 for awhile

They were way overpriced. But they always seemed to have healthier stock than most other stores.
They had 2 tanks over 50G when I was in there. One was a bowfront. They both included the hood and stand. As for the Moroto the disc on it was about 12" maybe a little more, it said (peru) next to it but whatever lol they sold me a Longnose gar labeled as a shortnose and the last Silver arowana they had was about 4" and they were selling it for $80. I talked with one of the other area LFS owners that was there to look at equipment and he said part of the reason was that the overhead there was insane.

I used to go there alot when I lived in the area and wnet to the OCA meetings.
I liked it alot there. Healthy at the time. This was 4 years ago.
Do they still have the TSNxRTC? I loved that fish.

No that tank sprung a leak a while ago, well over a year and they got rid of it.

yea i just went there a week ago and was wondering what happened i thought it was supposed to be some marvelous huge store full of fish but then i found out they where going out of business...still looked pretty neat but i would reccomend something fishy one exit down the road. the owner breeds a lot of his fish in a basement and great pricing on fish. especially if u like cichlids or plecos thats the place to go.

I started my fish keeping there. I went there yesterday to check it out... bought a few things. Then today I was planning to go up right before closing and see if any really good deal would pan out. My buddy and I took home around 40 newer plants from their tanks for .50 a piece and some nice driftwood too. Lucky, all that big fish were being picked up when we were up there for about 2 hours. I was especially happy to see the full-sized GG go to a nice guy who must have spent a lot of money. I really didn't shop there much because of their prices, but I did really like the staff. I wish them the best. AA had a good run. I hear a Pet Supplies Plus might take over the old Circuit City because when AA moved in they signed an agreement that no other fish store could establish itself in RPS, but now that they closed, who knows. I tried to get the wood off the walls too, lol.

i just hope all the small fish stores can make it through this economy crisis in NE Ohio. everything just keeps going down hill....

The small stores are doing ok and others doing great in the area because they don't have an outrageous overhead and equally outrageous prices like AA did. AA hung themselves with their own rope. I only went there when I ran out of Prime and when I did have to buy it I hated to get it from there because a 50ml bottle was about $8

You said when you were there all the big fish were being picked up. I hope so I couldn't get a chance to go out there this week to see what was left.

they wanted like $80-90 and it was rather small
they wouldn't come down
I left it there
guess they shoulda sold it to me....wish I wouldve known they were going under I wouldve stopped back to try and get it
