Is it possible to get a hybrid from a platy and guppy. or do they not mix?

I kept some together and had no success in the two even being interested in each other. (didnt want any either)

Thanks. Ill try and see what happens. when you are making a hybrid do you need to do anything special

Guppy and platy cannot hybridizing each other. Guppy is in Poecilia family and platy is in Xiphophorus family. Hybridizing the livebearers are more complicated than hybridizing cichlids. So its wont be work.

yep.
guppy x molly or swordtail x platy could work though, as they are in the same genus
but this is all hypothetical, maybe they won't even be interested in each other
guppy x platy = no
guppy x molly = possible
platy x swordtail = possible (both are variatus)
Go with something easier first, I'm pretty sure it can't be done. But, if you got the room and the time, then why not try. But go with platy x swordtail first, those shouldn't be too hard.
