Here's an update of my crossback. Three months ago he jumped out from my tank. He lost 90% of his tail and 15% anal fin. Now the fins grew back. Its quite an eyesore. I'm thinking of trimming it for aesthetics. He's only 13inch long. What do you guys think? should I ask an experienced person to trim it?

Nice Xback. You shouldnt have problems cutting off that little piece off the anal fin. You just need to transmore him before taking him out. Should be a quick operation.

Either leave it alone, or have an experience person to do it. You could lose a nice aro for nothing.

Thanks for all your advice.
I'm still undecided. I'll just leave him that way for now. I know an expert who can do this risky operation with positive results. He's done it with multiple aros. I'll also ask his opinion. If the operation push through, I'll let you all know.

I would find a experienced person to do the anal fin. You're right, it is an eye sore.
Other than that, beautiful fish!
Nice XB with classic shape. From Panda?
The operation would be pretty simple, I am not that experimented and would be able to do it, so I am pretty sure you could do it yourself. If you want to try it yourself, you can get the "legal" transmore, look for Arowana Stabilizer on Ebay, it's pretty cheap, around 10$ I think. I have used it many times before on my own Aros and it works pretty well.
Keep us updated and best of luck with your Aro. You're pretty lucky that it suffured such minor injuries.

its an eyesore but why stress the fish out? Maybe itll just fall off by itself, if you cut it off what makes you different from those crazy japanese fish keepers who cut the tail off their flowerhorns just to make them tail less.

TY. Tough luck indeed. I'll probably ask my experienced friend to do it. If or when that happen, I'll observe his work so that I'll have the confidence to do it "if" this accident happen next time. My XB "Sudi" is from Asia Dragon Fish Farm.

The injured fins already fell-off and eventually grew back this way. To even out his fins is just an idea though, so it will grow back better. Don't worry, I have no plans of making this guy a permanent tail-less Aro. :) Just to give you an idea, here's his pic taken a day right after the accident 3 months ago.

My Blood Red is from the same farm, or brand at least. I noticed that this brand tend to cost a bit less. Mind sharing with us how much you got this XB, or you can pm me.

Cut the fin it will be a really quick op. Dont listen to Mr. Imanarowanagod. Its not the same as making a fh tailless.
