My aro is dying as I write this and don't know what to do. He hasn't eatin in 6 days and is now flowting head up and head down. He accasionaly jerkes out of control like he's being electricuted. Water perameters are right on. I've been feeding him FDkrill and flowting pellets. I have asked many people and no one has any answers. If anyone could give some advise.

Don't flush him; he could clog the toilet. Keep him in the freezer until trash day.

(When they reach this point for no apparent reason it is too late to save him.)

maybe you should have tried feeding him some live foods when he stopped eating after the 2nd or third day to get some food into him

Oh, wait a minute. It isn't too late to run out for some meds. Without any information to go on, the highest probability is it's an internal bacterial infection. The chances of saving him are very low to none at all. If you want to give it a shot, get some Lifegard All-In-One from Petsmart before they close. Get enough to dose the whole tank and do not move your aro to a smaller tank.

He has never had live food. I think at this point it's to late. He is now just about gone.

Watching him die is the worst. I'd rather wake up and see him dead than go through this.

Thanks for all the advise and sympathy, I can't watch anymore. I hope for the best and see what happens in the morning. Just hope that my peacock bass don't try eating him after he dies.

probably had to do with the krill. I think its the shell theres a sticky about shrimp shells killing aros.

When an arowana swims up and down or struggles to up right etc..

its clear signs that they are dying...

I had two arowana died on me like that.. there is nothing you can do...
IF they even stand up right or head down in the water.. the arow will be gone very soon..

IT sad.. but thats what happens... :(

the aro is ( was ) sick. It is not the short period without eating that did it.

Sorry for the loss of blackie.

Well I woke up early this morning and he was gone. Really sucks. Now I don't know if I should get another black/silver aro or replace him for another cichla. Problem is finding a cichla that's close to the same size as my other 6"er's. All I ever see is babies.

of course it is not the period without eating that did it, but when a young aro stops eating despite no changes to his environment it is a sign that something else is wrong. do you not agree?

Sorry for the loss bro! I lost my 30" one the opposite way...my folks put too much food in the water when I was outta town, came back that night, and saw ALL the fish in my tank dying.

Of course. It was sick, it stopped eating. It died because it was sick, not because of the short period without food intake.

Sorry for your loss. If an aro ever floats head up, or head down, and there is no tranquilizer in the water, it means hes already too weak to control his gas bladder. This usually means its too late.
