Hey folks, recently replaced my 300ltr tank with a 500ltr. It's gonna be a nice tang community. Really looking to pack it with shellies in the middle, a friend of mine has bred a load of multis so I will be adding 10 soon.
The tank is a bit bare at the moment but I will slowly build up the stocks.

It's a beast alright. Looking forward to stocking it. Did a water change this morning and it nearly broke my back, gonna have to get a large water vat and a decent pump to help :D

I've ten multis ready to go from a breeder. Slightly worried about the two juvenile comps I have though........
I've heard that the rule of thumb with comps is: measure the distance between eye and lower jaw, that is the max size fish they will attempt to eat/attack.
Any ideas?

juevnile comps would have trouble with full grown multies, but in the long run they would be eaten.

Quick update:
Tank at the moment is as follows (500ltrs), and will be staying this way as i'm bloody smashed!!:
8 Tropheus Moorii Ikola "Kaiser"
7 Neolamprologus Leleupi
2 Altolamprologus Compressiceps
1 Neolamprologus Brichardi
2 Ophthalmotilapia Ventralis
2 Juli. Transcriptus
1 Juli. Regani
3 Lamprologus Brevis
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg79/PeterIrelandFish/HPIM1486.jpg
The Tropheus are getting very big, very quickly. I've upped my water changes since I got them and between that, the large tank and NLS they are in great shape. They are ferocious eaters.
This is a bit blurred, I'm not a good photographer at all!!

These Brevis are amazing little fish, the colour on the male is stunning. The ventralis in the background are lightning quick, this is the only pic I could get them in.

This is a great looking setup. I would just keep my eye out for aggression between the tropheus. 8 is a low number, manageable, but low.
Also, you might have already had some breeding, but the comps/calvus would have taken care of that for you.

love your tank but plastic plants i dont know....
I agree with you, The community tank used to be very densely planted but my heater got stuck in the on position for about a week and it melted the lot of them. The 240ltr took the backburner for a while while I was setting up the big tank but I'm going to get it back to its former glory soon. The plastic plants are temporary until I get my act together.
Also re: Low Tropheus numbers, i've already had some aggression problems but it's settled down now. I've been offered two Kaisers from a friend (for free) but worried that it will upset the colony. Any ideas?
