Nice fire eels!I've always wanted one but for two reasons I can't get one:

1.My tank is only 55 uk gals

2.Theres a chance they would eat larger Rainbowfish.

they are a cool fish but they do become a monster when they grow up. Their faces turn into some kind of scary alien. Normally i like weird things but this one i saw at my lfs really scared me to the point it was disgusting!

in that instant my imagination went wild and I visualised my fingers or arm being eaten by it! and from the size of it i am sure it could!!! scary :)

smaller ones looks awesome and cute just like peacock but much more colourful, pity they don't stay small :(

If they stayed small, they wouldn't be as interesting. Hope you can get him to eat!

i would try some ghost shrimp for sure.
I would never consider my huge fire eel as an ugly or weird fish.I love hand feeding her and even try to give her a kiss.

Worms are at the top of the list for favorite foods of fire eels

Try bloodworms, earthworms, glass worms ( AKA mosquitoe larve ) also market shrimp, ghost shrimp and fish fillets are good to try
