:WHOA: I love the casual title of "just another BD & Eclipse import". Like there is nothing special about them. Then you open it up and blaam! The hottest eclipse ray on the planet. Nice pick ups.

ALL WILD CAUGHT JUST LIKE LAST IMPORT AND THE NEXT ONE & NEXT ONE & NEXT ONE. I know a few guys over in Europe love to spread lies that the rays are from Asia but there surely not.

Are the fisherman catching the BDs and eclipse both from the same river/area? Are the eclipses just luck of the draw BDs that have obviously "eclipse" like markings? just curious.. If the 2 above fish mated would the pups be considered pure bred BDs? Either way they are amazing like usual Mike

Knowing Mike he has a special fisherman on his payroll that goes out and collects these one of a kind rays for him.

this bring me back to a point i made a few weeks ago BD cant be that rare if some can go fish them when ever they want at the drop of a hat
if they could why didnt we see thousands of BD before the ban
what you are saying is now we are only importing BD so the leos we were getting before the ban were low grade sub standard rays

Some of the smaller BD we have at 8-10" are starting to eclipse with there spots, So I would say these would have to be BD that develop eclipse spots as they mature, Same as normal leopoldi developing eclipse spots as they mature and grow larger. Yes they would still be considered BD since a eclipse is really a blackdiamond eclipse leo.

Here we go again, I know of only one other buyer to get BD of this quality besides myself. And it takes weeks between imports for my exporter to get enough to send me 10 or more pieces in one shipment. Who said you they are fishing them out at the drop of a hat? My exporter has a set quota of rays to sell so this is not really that hard to figure out. Why would he sell regular leo for 1/3 of price as BD when he can collect less fish and get more money for every quota they use for one BD? Why sell 100 regular leo when you can take your time and collect 100 BD over a longer period of time and sell for 3x the profit?. The reason why your seeing more BD now is 1) I am posting pictures of my imports and 2) The fishermen/exporters know what to look for now in the past before the ban there was very small demand for these rays, not like the demand for BD there is now a days. You keep saying this like there are BD all over the place for sale who besides myself and one guy in europe has these rays in there tanks for sale at the moment to make you think this? Please just leave the thread to admire the beauty of these rays and nothing more.

i understand what you are saying the guys are pulling them out of the river to max profits
then surely most of them would go to japan were the profits are much higher
does this mean we wont see any normal leos on this quota and a normal spot leo will now be the rare ray like BD were before the ban
before the ban you were lucky to see 10 x BD per year you have got 40 in the space of 1 month and thats just to you not taking in to account ones were are not seeing in asia

Why would most go to Japan when exporter sets a certain price and the person who is willing to pay that SET price happens to be in the USA which is half the flight time, then sending the rays to Asia and alot less risk for the exporter with DOA etc? Max profits would be on the buyers side not the exporter since the buyer can make whatever profit he feels is good for these rays. All the exporter does is set a price and sell to the best paying customer. Also I have not even obtained 40 BD, wish I did but simple not true. Between me and the other guy in Europe who got some it's less then 40 combined add in another 20 sold to one customer in japan maybe 60 total and I am not even 100% sure anybody in Asia got these. Also there is only 1 exporter selling BD who is smart enough to maximize profits at the moment just about all the rest who I am in contact with cannot get these quality rays and are selling regular P13 amd P12.

its no big deal to me who buys what at what price
its great that so many nice rays are coming out
it makes me wonder how many normal spot leos are caught then thrown back with the chance of a hook in side them just because they dont meet the standards needed now

what problems would it solve
it causes more problems
its best to get them off as soon as passable
WC Leos & Henleis came into S'pore recently with almost zero casualties. Some do have decent & nice spottings on them but I have yet to see any WC BDs or Eclipses like the ones posted by Mike.
The importing farm did mention that these rays were quarantined by the exporter for at least 3 months back & maybe that's the reason for the low DOAs. Also, regardless of their sizes, only 1 pc is packed into a very large bag in a huge styrofoam box unlike the methods used in the past.
