Hi,
in the section below AAA Mm vs Blackrays i posted pictures of my parents and pups, those pups are approx 8 months old,its not till now i can see significent changes,i took those shots only last week, now they have changed again, the marbling is coming through and the rings around the spots are becoming darker and thicker.Ive seen wild Marbles at 30cm discs that havent finished developing their patterns,i believe foods such as Hikari massivore (fantastic food)which contain all the ingredients for healthy development may speed the process up in captive rays, mine do great on it though i do feed lots of earth worms, prawns, mussels etc.

fantastic fish guys.

when they are small there seems to be little difference between them and normal motoros . how do you know for sure they will grow into marbles ? or dont you ?

yes the difference is very little. but for normal motoros they only have 1-2 rows of spots at the edge of the disc. marbles have 3 rows. learnt this from Tom32 when i was at his place to reserve one of his marble pups.

This thread is a great idea. It will help us (and many others, I'm sure) get a good idea of what kind of baby MM to purchase and know what to expect as they get older.

Beautiful rays you guys.
I can't wait to get our pair!

personally, i just go with my feeling. if i feel that a fish have potential, i just get it. how it turn out is not exactly about how it look like when it is young although there is some relation as we can picture how it may look like when it gets bigger. all fish can be groomed to unveil their best potential. it is how we, as the owner, should help them out by providing them all the necessary conditions for them to blossom. if the condition is not right, no matter how wonderful it look like when it is young, it will not turn out nice when it is big. this is what i believe in.

Some pics of our marble females. They have only grown about a 1/2 inch but you can see how much darker they got. Currently almost 5 inches.
