I know that Silver Dollars are not piranhas, but they are very similar in body structure. My question is... Exactally how big are Silver Dollars supposed to grow? Mine are getting huge as far as silver dollars go. about 6 inches from nose to tail! Is that normal? I have had these guys since I got into FW fish and they are wonderful dithers, I just didnt relize they get as big as they do.

They do get big.. biggest ive seen is about 8 inches in a pic somewhere. They get to around a foot in the wild . A foot long silver dollar in the tank would be something else

I had a Red Hook Silver Dollar a few years back that was atleast a good 10inches. He came out of a 240 gallon tank. I love Silver Dollars but they are to skittish for me.

Silver Dollar's get about 6", and Red Hook Silver Dollars get about 8". So your fish is just fine, should not be growing much now. :)
