I am thinking about getting one.

What I can provide for it is a marineland eclipse 12 gallon tank. I got a small piece of driftwood too. Should they have sand or is gravel fine? What kinda plants?

Is a 12 gallon acceptable for 1? Dimensions I believe are 21x11x17 or something like that.

Whats ideal temp, hardness, PH etc?

Activeness? Do they swim around or do they lay around and hide etc?

Theres also another puffer that goes by red-eye I believe its a Irrubesco.

Thanks

I think onw would be fine in a 12 gallon.Their teeth grow very fast and you need to provide them with snails to grind their teeth on.

Are they active or do they lay around all day? I got snails, I got a ton of pond snails in my shrimp tank. They will be fed to a puffer if I get one.

Need 20g tank to help dilute their waste- they are very messy eaters. Not very active- mostly lurkers and they will need small snails- about the size of the puffer's eye. Also need to feed other meaty foods. Should keep in a species only tank- can be very aggressive at times. Mine is mostly active at dusk and dawn ( feed her then) Check ou the Puffer Forum- best place to get puffer info.
