I used to be a loyal customer until this past 2 months..

At the end of December 08 I bought 2 x 500 watt heaters heaters. They immediately stopped working after 5-10 mins of running. I called aquacave and he sent me to a rep of the company that makes the heaters. Turns out they would heat up the solder joints inside the case and disconnect the main wire, then when the solder cooled back down it would reconnect.

He fixed the units, got them home and this time they would run for a few hours then the solder would disconnect again and cool down.. blah blah blah blah. No way was I gonna let these run unattended in my house so I called for an RMA/RA #, no call back.. Left 3 messages including emails.. nothing. So I sent the units back anyways for a full refund. They got the box 1-8-09.

I called them 3 weeks ago asking about the refund since I never noticed it back on my card. No call back. PayPay transaction dispute was opened. He declined my refund through paypal. Escalated through paypal, then paypal denied my claim because they don't fight quality issues.

Called again and he said they cannot refund my money cause they units are working and nothing is wrong with them and now hes stuck with 2 used units.

So screw him, I called my Visa company and disputed the charge. Now he has to pay for the charge back as well and he looses my business.

Since when?

You buy anything electrical in any store in america and you get an automatic 30 day warranty. I had problems the same day I received the items, how isn't this aquacaves problem? They sold it to me.

ok I won't.

BigAls would take it back in the same situation.

Gotta be careful when ordering form these smaller companies. I order alot from Drs Foster and Smith, no problem at all. I have ordered from aquacave before and didnt have a problem. But I will take your warning, because one day I could be in a similar situation and I wouldnt want to go through this.

You could always file a claim with BBB.

I order most of my stuff from Pet Solutions. I've returned a few items and never had a bit of trouble - they sent out a shipping label. They have 500 and 800 watt titanium heaters, plus lots of different 300, 350, and 400 watt heaters.
