WOW... I've never seen pics like that of the inside of an aro's mouth. Looks like an alien mouth or something.

Their teeth are in the jaw line. The "teeth" you see are actually bone, they are why this fish belongs to the Osteoglossidae family, or bony-tongued fish. So yes when you got bit, they were on the outer rim of the mouth, and it does hurt.
