Welcome to MFK!!
Asian aros are not legal in the US. There are alot available (it seems). However, you're just as easily ripped off by scammers advertising something they don't have. You send your money, receive nothing, and there's no recourse for you. You can't report them since this is an illegal transaction in the US.
You could get a jardini. They're inexpensive but, can be mean to tankmates. There's also the leichardti aro but, they're more costly at around $300 for a 3-5" juvie.
Check our sponsors lists. There's usually several batches of these aros available at any given time.

I would go with a leichardti! Beautiful fish! Not as big a punk as jardinis.
Heres mine :)

leichardti would be your best bet..dont go for a jardini unless u want it to be a jardini only tank..

People say that, but just one look at mine will change your mind...
It does seem to be the general rule though, I do see more leichardtis in comm tanks than I see jardini.
I would go with leichardti though if $$ is not an issue.

everyone please keep in mind that it will be housed with stingrays!!!! how about a black they stay around 3 foot? silver is too big asains are illegal jars are to aggresive so its really a black or a leichardti
Blacks are beautiful. I'd get one of those. Then you could keep with the SA theme too.

personally I think jardinis are much better looking than leichardtis, but jardinis end up having to be kept alone. They are mean fish.

i agree, i would rather you have a jardini. it has a broader body and darker color. its head aint sissy looking either, strong and mean like a silver or an asian. leichardtis are just too streamline, not broad enough for me and pale too

i think thats a stereo type for the poor fish
not all are meanies :D
given enough space, a chance to grow up with other fish, i think a jar would do well in a comm set-up

del I've never seen a jardini over a foot that's not aggressive. Maybe if you keep it with fish twice it's size, but comms aren't usually like that.
Of course there are exceptions, but it seems like a unanimous vote that jardinis are aggressive fish generally.

my jardini is kind of weird it screws with my silver (1.5times his size), but smaller fish he leaves alone, it's all about the fish :screwy:
