Listed as "Red Tail Tiger Catfish".
Red-Tail Tiger Catfish
Latin name: Pseudoplatystoma Fasciatum or Tigrinum
IGFA World Record 19.75kg/43lb 8oz
But if I search that name on Google it shows me what appear to be normal TSN's.
That pictures looks like something else though.

I googled that name and it gave me this link, I guess there are 8 species of tiger Shovel nose. I didn't know there were that many.

Yeah, unfortunately I can't get find any decent pics of these guys without paying money for the revision document...
I think that's what it is, since it the pattern does not reticulate. I can't see the pectoral fins though, so.

yeah...
definitly not a:
fasciatum
tigrinum
corroscuns
or a reticulata.
i think it's a mag, but not way to tell without examining the skeleton.

Knowing where it was caught could help to. I havent made it all the way through the Pseudoplatystoma revision, but many of the different sp. the divided up were found in somewhat specific regions.

Agreed, on that second pic for sure. They must have released them in Thailand either as a food fish or by accident and now sport fish for fun as well.

looks like a P tigrinum thats been in a very murky pond - in dark water heavy with sediment fish take on an almost transparent paleness - you can see this in many species, carp, trout, roach etc ...
