How do you tell the differnce between the two types of P.bass? I have 2 P.bass and im not sure if I have two differnt types or if they are the same. How can you tell between the two mono and the other type...

there are a few more than 2, like a dozen of so if you count all the subspecies. do a google search for types of peacock bass
It's kinda hard to tell when they are still young. The ocellaris will develope a spot above the thrid bar. While monoculus won't have it.
By the way there are A LOT more that just those two types. Some have patterens that are just jaw dropping!

There are also a lot of colour variation in the same species, one monoculus can look very different to another. My two Cichla sp. "Araguaia III" display very different colours most of the time.
