My Pikes

[Optimist]

Hi everyone. Here are some updated pictures of my pikes. I have a pair of C. minuano which are around 5-6 inches and an unidentified pike that I picked up a couple days ago. I'm fairly certain the new pike is female given the mark on the dorsal. She is around 8 inches. So far, the two species are living together without any problems. I'm keeping my eye on them though. very nice. i love the tank shot. plants look super healthy. what kind of lighting are you rocking? and any added co2?

the new pike you picked up looks awesome. ive seen alot of pike and im kinda clueless on it. i wanna say that it looks liek it could be a lacustris group species but thats just a guess.

The lower jaw line makes me think sp. gaucho, similar to scotti, but gets larger, is in western Uruguay and eastern Argentina. Ken

Thanks. The lighting is Eclipse Natural Daylight...It came with the tank. Personally I would like to upgrade because I don't think it is ideal for plant growth. I don't use any Co2 but I've been adding Flourish tabs about every month. I'm just a beginner when it comes to plants. I'm sort of surprised that they're doing so well.

I agree with you that it could belong to the lacustris group. There were a bunch of species named recently which are very similar.

Could be...at the very least I would say its a close relative.

You're tank looks spectacular! A T-5 light would make those plants rock out! Although with what you have they will be fine. If you do more plants get the T-5. Oh and the Pikes are sweet too! LOL
