Hiya,
I am a newbie to Lung Fish and I am wondering what the requirements are of such a fish-
Is a 6' x 2' x 2' tank OK for life?

Quote"The largest species of African lungfish can grow to be over 2 m / 6 feet long. They grow very fast and a large aquarium is necessary from day one. They are best kept alone in the aquarium without any other fishes present since they are very predatory and aggressive"
There are four African lungfish species what one have you got?

West African lungfish (P. annectens)3'African Lungfish
marbled African lungfish (P. aethiopicus)6'Marbled Lungfish
spotted African lungfish (P. dolloi)4'Slender Lungfish
The above are the most likely to come across granted the sizes stated are for wild caught specimens.o captive species are slightly smaller-Anne
warnings
1.these fish can deliver a powerful bite.
2.A secure lid on the tank is needed also-Anne
There is one other African lung but its probably the rarest of the lungfishes and most expensive also the smallest gilled African lungfish (P. amphibius)2'East African Lungfish

Just to be fussy there are four species and three subspecies
West African lungfish (P.annectens annectens)3'African Lungfish
subspecies= Southern Lungfish (Protopterus annectens brieni)
marbled African lungfish (P.aethiopicus aethiopicus)6'
subspecies=Protopterus aethiopicus congicus 6'
subspecies=Protopterus aethiopicus mesmaekersi 6'
gilled African lungfish (P. amphibius)2'
spotted or slender African lungfish (P. dolloi)4'
P.annectens are seen fairly often here..
I used to keep one, they grow really fast, and I was forced to keep it by itself as it killed everything in its tank.
That being said, great fish!

A large tank is required due to the large size they attain and to be able to maintain proper water quality due to the amount of wastes they produce.
And, trying to keep two in the same tank would be an exercise in futility. Even breeding partners can't tolerate each others presence once spawning is completed.
Here's an idea of what to look forward to with these primitive monsters:
