Hi again.
I forgot to ask in the last note: Is the silver aro the least aggressive of the arowanas? I have read that the Asian Arowana is the most aggressive...

IMO it's the black arowanas.
Aussies are the worst

silvers and blacks are both said to be the most docile, relatively speaking. and jardinis are the worst..

silver arowanas are known to be one of the least aggressive arowanas... but that doesnt mean totally no fighting will occur at all if comm-ed together..

Silver is the least aggressive of all Aros..but doesn't mean its not fierce. Due 2 current tight budget, i gotta comm my Silver & Spotted Gar, Endy in the same 4ft tank. All r abt 18". The Silver terrorised the Gar frm Day One... likes 2 give the Gar a peck here & there. Feel realli sorrie 4 the poor Gar, always hiding at the bottom wif the Endy. Fortunately it was nuthin serious. No injuries watsoever. Strangely enuff, Silver never bothers Endy..even wen Endy is swimming at the surface. Only the Gar had it. Lol

Thank you for the replies.
My siver aro has grown noticeably since I got it at one of the chain petshops here in the U.S. The store clerks told me it had not eaten in over a week, but it has quite an appetite for Hikari sticks and shrimp (without the shell). I measured it yesterday and it was five inches already. It is now at least half an inch longer than the balas, although it is thinner than they. I hope Delgado is right and it won't develop a taste for the balas, but that may be going against millions of years of evolution.

I found that keeping all types of arowanas, the least aggressive would be the African Aro and then the Black aro. But with dealing with any type of arowana, it will just depend on the particular fish. Good Luck
Does this picture answer all your question??:D

I've foung the jardini's to be the most agro. But with silvers and blacks, I had one of each that were very nice...alsmot shy. But A friend of mine that selld fish had a tank of blacks that were so agro, they'd jump up and try to bite your fingers. So, for the most part the south americans are the more docile, but each fish is a little different. Sorry, I don'y have experience raising asian aros.

Hello. My Silver aro is the most peacefull fish on the tank, which have 4 severum, 2 bangasius catfish, 2 texas and some other extremely peacefull fishes. The aro is extremely a good friend with all of them but none of the other fishes tries to disturb her. The Jardini is very nervous and has all the fishes on line. I think that the jardini dont like anyone to tell her a word. He likes to be the boss in the tank. He bites me some times jumping over my hand to eat the pellets. That is my experience.

At a small size they are not aggressive at all. Over 2 ft that's a different story, mine bit my Mum, my dad, me, you couldn't put your hand on the cover glass without it having a go. Also it killed a 14" Peacock Bass by bullying. Small sizes no problem, when they are old they get grumpy and snappy. This is what I have found. ;)

I have a little Silver in with cichlids and bichirs and it stays to itself, gliding along the top of the water. It usually will go to to the other side of the tank if the cichlids start playing rough around it. Like I said though.....he's just a little guy, about 6 inches.

i think the level of aggresion between aros will always be there, however, it's true that silvers are not hostile to the other tankmates..
if your silver gets along with other aros, you're lucky, it does not happen all the time..
than again, maybe it's the other way round, if your silver is hostile towards other aros than you're one unlucky :lipsseale
Mine just started tearing up the other two in the tank..(3 silvers altogether)

My Silver is about 1/5 meter and have eaten a lot of small fish ofcourse, but I
think it's rather friendly...
Goes friendly with all fish of som size.
Better than the reputation...
My giant snakeheads deserve the reputation as a monster much mor....
