How long could one keep a Arapima comfortable in a 300 gallon. 96x30x30 are the dimensions.

not very long some one who has one will probably answer this but i bet less than 2 years
probably depends on how fast you will get him to grow to 2 ft.. then you need to move it.. but preferably its best to put it in a tank or pond where you want him at since its really difficult to move really big fish around ;)

Moving large aros is a BIG pain in the @$$. Even 12" ones is a pain. Think of it this way... If it is strong enough to knock a 1/2" thick glass lid off an aquarium, think what if will do to your arm when it whips it with its back half.

I agree with Kido, that tank would last only a year afterwards you'll need a pond for it to live comfortably.

An Arapaima can eat alot.. and its growth rate is tremendous.
A baby 8 incher won't last longer than 6 months before you'd have to rehouse it.

I'd say 300 gallons would last you about 3 months (assuming it's fed properly and kept in a normal temp range). I've seen them grow to 3' or more in the 12-14 months. They don't grow slowly.
