Some of you were curious to know how much red Arowana's are in the uk.
Well i went down to my local Aquatice supplies store and spoke to a mate who work's there and he was selling

Silver Arowana's for £29.99

Green Arowana's for £40.00

Gold Arowana's for £150.00

Red Arowanna's for £ 700.00

He also said they can get some sort of hybird Aro for £400.00

( THESE PRICES DO NOT COUNT FOR THE WHOLE OF THE UK. PRICE VARIES )

I'm not sure exactly what the currency conversion is from £ to $.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....150 pounds for Gold arowana? this price tag is really fishy..I would think it is more for the Red Tail Golden arowana rather than the gold X-back arowana.

I doubt the Gold Arowana is even a RTG.. Prices seem fishy, no pun intended.

Hey thanks guys for the warning but unfortunatly i don't have that sort of money for them type of expensive fish.
But the next time i'm down there i shall enquire about gettin certificates for the more expensive Aro's.
What about the silver Aro ? do they need certs or is that just for the more expensive Aro?

Dude...the south americans (silver and black) or the Aussies (jars and lecht) do not need tagging or certificates to own them..as their are not listed in CITES under the endangered specie act.

but asian aros are the ones listed in CITES appendix 1 and people can get to own them if they are farm bred (2 generation frys onwards) and are tagged with accompanied certification.

if you own an asian aro that is not tagged...high chance is was poached from the wild.

Thanks RG, I was wondering about the tagging, are these subdermal chips or what?

Thanks RG, I was wondering about the tagging, are these subdermal chips or what?

The chip is embedded under the scale of the Aro. The tag size for these fish would be about 5" onwards...one piece of scale would be removed..and the tag inserted in.

normally..the tag would be inserted on the back of the aro where theres more flesh.

Those prices ae possible. Speaking from experience as an importer of asian aros to Canada from Singapore, you can get the prices low if you import large numbers of fish 12-50. Also, the more you deal with one distributor, the lower the price they will pass on. Still, the prices you quote seem closer to wholesale than retail. Which farm is the store importing from?
