Hello, I am new to MFK and would like to say what a great site and outstanding aquarists, I just wanted to show a picture of my Butokoferi, he is about 6" long , this site is making me want to get back into the hobby again and get a bigger tank. :headbang2

sweet i got a lil guy as well an I think they are the same fish. How long do they take to get that big? mine is only about 2 1/2 - 3 inches right now.

Your fish is a Malawi mbuna. Not sure on the species though.
OP's fish is Tilapia buttikoferi, which is an African cichlid but not one from any of the rift lakes.

My Butti is about 7"
His current hobby is mouth wrestling with one of my pike cichlids
He's the one always starting a fight though he always end up the loser

So far my Butti has been pretty docile, i just restoced the tank with a green terror, 2 black convicts 1 polystigmatus and fire mouth, when I added these new fish I put in some feather fin goldfish for the butti to take his aggresion out on, and to say the least that is what he did. It has been 2 weeks and everybody is getting along fine...... so far.:naughty:
