Pike id pls what do you think it is?
thanks.
Pikes are agonisingly difficult to identify, but this fish looks like Crenicichla sp. Tapajos Red. I may be wrong, though. Whoever more knowledgable than me please help if you know.
Or go to http://www.geocities.com/NapaValley/5491/specieslist.html for information on pikes.

Definitely not johanna. Cr. johanna has a very prominent horizontal band on both sides of the body, and doesn't have a spot at the caudal peduncle.

I'm still sticking with my answer. Crenicichla sp. Tapajos Red.

Nope, thats either Crenicichla sp. 'redfaced lugubris' or a VERY nice Crenicichla sp. 'xingu II'. either way its not a tapajos red or a johanna...haha...i'm hopin its actually a mature xingu II cuz that means mine will turn out to look like that...haha..the pelvic fins match...:P

I agree; It looks like a female red-face lugubris. The snout looks more blunt than I would expect for a Xingu II. Although it is variable w/ mood, this fish isn't showing the humeral blotch, which is characteristic of the Xingu II pikes.

Would have to say Red-faced lugubris. Our Tapajos sp Red pikes are definately different.

I said i was hopin...haha....would be nice if the xingu II's turned out like that. I've only seen pictures of adult males...I think....any pictures of adult female xingu II out there?
