Why is everyone (including me) suddenly buying and keeping snakeheads?!! First arowana craze, then flowerhorn (and blood parrot) craze, now what? Snakeheads?! Anyway I like snakeheads.....

i like channa because they look cool; their formidable-looking bodyshape and predatory nature does it for me. I don't think this is a period of particular channa craze though... been on fish forums for 2 years and they've always been ultra-desirable.

They got to be a "Hotter" item when they banned the sale and ownership of
snakeheads. Human nature. Other than that, monsterkeepers have always had
an affinity for channas because of their aggressive nature and voracious appetite.

i've always loved snakeheads and was always looking for some here in manila.. unfotunately the only ones that are available here are red snakeheads.. but thanks to EFEX (ricky) i'm finally gonna get my dream fish :headbang2

nope, the only ones that are in the hobby here is the red snakehead and sometimes the albino striata.. i'm looking for auranti's and pleuropthalma's :)

Luckily for me, snakeheads are virtually everywhere in Singapore, drains, rivers, canals, reservoirs, etc. Even fish markets sell live ones (usually Channa micropeltes or Channa mariulius) for food!

We also have lots of common snakehead here as well, they're a actually a delicacy, pretty tasty when cooked right. :drool:

im fairly new to the whole snakehead craze and didnt know they were illegal ova here. no wonder the guy laughed when i asked him how much it was for a channa micropeltes. DAMN IT !!!!!! i want one so bad :swear:

I enjoy looking at them...they r like velociraptors in jurassic park, always looking at you and calculating. I got an 10incher so it still yellowish with the 2 black strips. When it moves around the tanks, it reminds me of a stalking leopard. And they r fast fish so get a big tank to enjoy their speed.
