Well after several years I've finially come back to discus. This weekend I drove to Orlando to a breeder and purchased 19 2-4" discus that are all doing well in my tank, along with 10 cory cats. Currently I've got them in a 180g aquarium that is 6'x2'x2' and they're doing beautifully. All schooling all eating a custom beefheart mix. I'll post some pictures soon, most of them aren't really showing their colors yet however they all appear golden but there pandas, leapords, and blue diamonds. I drove about 1000 miles this weekend to pick them up and meet the breeder but I had a very good experience with him and a good price on the fish ($12 ea). He was raising them in a ph of 7.5 and hardness of about 60ppm which is what my area puts out of the kitchen sink so it was a perfect match for me.

Only one real question at the moment and are pleco's compatabile with them? I've heard some mixed reviews and I have a thing for exotic plecos as well.

Hi.. Congrats... I think once you have had discus they get into your blood and you are just bound to have them again at sometime in your life:ROFL::ROFL:. Would love to see pics of your tank..:popcorn:. I think you should put your question in the regular forum as you will get more responses. You can also check out simplydiscus forum if you aren't already familiar with it.. It's dedicated to discus and there's tons of expertise over there as well as here.. With baby discus I wouldn't put a whole lot of other things in the grow out tank situation.. I've always had bn with no issues but some other plecos might go for the discus slime and or not be too happy with the high temps the discus need.. HTH Sue:D

Hi.. Sorry about that I thought:confused::confused: you had posted in the lounge area my bad... guess I was trying to do too many things at once..
Anyhows aside from the temp issues and possible discus slime eating issues most plecos as you know are major poop machines which also makes keeping juvie discus tanks clean a big pita... once the discus are adults it's not so much of an issue.. Sue:D
