View Full Version : My 7 year old Silver Arow....

Close to 7 anyway... a few months to go...He is about 36 inches... never really ate a great diet... from the time he was tiny he always loved his arow pellets.. and thats all he wanted except for a silver side here and there... now at this age he has changed his picky ways... i can almost hand feed him anything... he decided he wants to try everything i toss at him... so algae pellets, cichlid pellets, defrosted cooked shrimp makes him drool.... and silversides and krill and anything else he can catch... i don't know how long this will last but i really enjoy feeding time with him now.. he gets all excited and curls up.. his eyes get big.... {i just shiver to my self....please don't jump}.... but i am carefull..............:D

Are you sure he's seven years old? I only ask because in August of '07 you posted that it was his Birthday and that he was four y.o.

i know i had my knee operation in 2002 and after i was in surgery i ended up in intensive care... my arow that i had at that time jumped..my husband believes he gave up his life to save mine... right after that i got this guy.. so maybe i had his age wrong when i posted back then..... because it is all working out now..i just asked hubby how old he is.. and he just said as old as your knee...

 The only reason I think I remembered that thread was because it was the same day as my daughters Bday.
Looks as if you guy has the double DE, like one of my silvers:(

oh yes...but it does not bother me.. and it should not bother you.. so many of them lose their life too early... i will take the DE as long as he is still kicking... ..and he is healthy..

Ya I just feel sorry for her, she used to love crickets, krill, pellets but now she doesn't seem to be able to feed from the surface with any success at all
Red Devil
03-06-2009, 4:32 PM
oh that is a different story... mine is still able to eat from the surface.. but lately i have been introducing all new foods by dropping it right in front of his face... i was so surprised that he seems to love it.. and now anything i give him this way he goes for it... but i have no other action in the tank...no tank mates except for two on bottom ... so he does not have any competition...

Double Drop eye.. it doesnt always occur in Arowana.. most only have 1 drop eye..
I have to say AWESOME arowana.. i just got another silver at 11" yesterday to accompany my 13" arowana.. their surprisingly doing well together.....
I hope mine grows to be monsters!

Very nice. one of the largest I ahve seen posted. Big silvers are sweet. You don't see to many of them compared to the number of them that are floating around at 12"+
hope he makes it to at least 10. maybe you can get him close to that 1m mark.

He is a silver and actually may be just a bit less then his measurement of 36...i was trying to be more accurate yesterday... but it is not easy.. one thing he did not do was eat that great... but lately that has completely changed.. just a few moments ago he ate 6 silversides... i don't know what has changed him ..but he wants to eat everything now... :D:D:D so there should be another growth spurt happening soon if this keeps up...
