I thought they were 3"? My piquiti are still only 2.5", so even if they're only 2", they'll be fine. I need to get my 10gal up and running so I can keep getting guppies instead of just getting a couple dozen feeders once a week for them. They eat like pigs, but I don't think they're growing quickly enough.

I didn't think I would be able to tell the difference, but the black line is darker and more solid on the Cereas than the others (at least so far). I'm going to start doing more water changes, too.

Ok I added the L.A. boy's to the 240g today and they were 11'' so I think that make's the Pinima 20+ :WHOA: man am I shocked. I never measure them like take them out and measure them ever. (Unless I am moving them) But when I moved the Pinima it was to much of a fight to even get them close to a ruler or tape measurer in there case. As soon as the 350 g is ready I will be officially measureing them but these L.A. boys look small compaired to my smallest Ocellaris and I am willing to bet he is 14''. I have alway's guesstamaited there size to a ruler I keep on the outside on the rim of the tank. But obviously this is very inaccurate (undermeasurement) I am :nilly: in shock still I don't know what to say. 20+ Cichla it feels good to hit this point. And my Mono's and bigger Ocell's are 15+ all raised them from 3''. I almost want to pull the biggest one of them to see how big he/she is. I will wait to measure them until I move them to the 350g going.

Right on Channa. I was and still am in shock bro. The little L.A. boy's look so much different then my Peruvian's. I am again stumped as to a positive ID, :irked:.

But oh man I was right when I said they would make the tank pop with colors. :headbang2 There more Golden then anybody else in the tank now. I really need to get some size on them but there swimming along with the rest of them so I think I am good. I am going to still keep my eye's on thing's for the next 48 hrs. ;)

I can wait till then because everybody else will take at least 10 month's before they would even be ready for that tank. :D Hopefully I will have the Pinima into the 350g by then. :naughty: Then it will be on like popcorn baby. I hope to have all of my 12'' Cichlids in the 240g by the end of the year. To get them use to the idea of all being together. :cool:

Hahaha yea my girl is not happy with me at all! :D If I learned one thing in this hobby is get it while the getting is good. Nothing this special last forever. Just a year ago it was a handfull of us Cichla dedicated. Now look at the Cichla Fourm. I am up to 16 Cichla and I have all that I asked for. ;) I am truely feeling blessed right now. Right on for the love pimpin.

I have other project's and cichlid's that I love as well. I just needed to complete this task while they were available and because they grow so vigourisly I need to make sure I did this the right way get my cichla situated and then work on the rest of my collection. (Which is pretty much complete as well). :naughty:

The second half of this year should hopefully be good for me. Gotta move to a new place so I can set up more tanks. Hopefully this year will bring in plenty more rare cichla. On top of that, it seems there is so many dedicated cichla keepers that those rare ones may become captive bred here in the states. Keep on rockin it pimp!

Had to take the L.A boy's out of the 240g. The Pinima are just to aggressive right now. I think there trying to section the tank off for breeding but there isnt enough room! :( So I took the L.A. boy's out. I don't want to loose them. And they were of size to become Pinima snack so yea forget that. :irked:

Heh, it's going to be an interesting battle of the wits my friend. How to convince a psychologist to give in on a fish nut's addiction. That is the question :). Why so high by the way, that just drives the price of the acrylic up. Deep is better, IMO, more space to claim for spawning pairs, more hideouts.

Imo when a 4' fish goes verticle it need's the extra space to do so. I have a 350g that is 6'x4'x2' the 2' is so ridiculos to me because how is a 3' fish going to go verticl comfortably. This tank was just a hell of a deal and will be used for breeding only and of course my Sting Ray's. I have seen form other here on MFk that going the extra yard will save a lot on headache and problems keeping them long term. And of course as much money as I have spent thus far another $1k isn't going to break the bank.

Never end's! I wanted Emp's and GATF's for as long as I have been keeping Cichla. But I had to make a choice and Cichla one that debate hand's down. More Varitey! :naughty:

I think I'm guilty of hijacking this thread already ...but I think there's a little variety in the Boulengerochromis case as well. Some go solid yellow + blue spangles, others creamy silver with black mask and stripes, or male solid yellow with speckles and female masked. I have the last one, and I have seen some videos of the ones mentioned, but to be honest nobody really researched in depth their case ...or I am not aware of that.

Last mention, had the Boulengerochromis pairing project failed ...I'd most likely have Cichlas right now :popcorn:

Don't worry about that I am to laid back to even care. :D As long as your not trolling and just being a JaCk A. I don't mind at all! Yes I have seen a few different looks from them (Emp's). Istrated studying them but lost interest mainly because I am so not into anything African except them and GATF. I have a few friend's who keep African tank's and I think it is a waste of time. But when I found out about them it was to late I was already addicted. Maybe 20 yrs form now or next life time.

To tell you the truth i got back into keeping Cichlids to do Parachromis only and then I found out about Dovii at that time that I had never heard of when I was keeping Jag's 15yrs ago. So I was all excited about keeping Dovii went to get the 240g and everything. Then I came upon the You tube of Diesel Mack. Got serious about learning what i could about them. Had seen the pair of Pinima in the LFS that I got them from plenty of times. Was never interested in owning such big Cichlids. As time grew on my curiosity peaked and found out D Mack was leving the game and figured there was a void that needed to be filled and well why not give it a try. The LFS that had the Pinima was going out of Business so he was selling everything. I was still intemedated by the Pinima and didn't even inquire about them. I grabed 3 Ocells from another place and went back to the place that had the Pinima and he had Peruvian Mono's so I had to get them. He informed me he would soon be closing his door's and had slashed all his price's. At that time he put the Pinima on here (MFK) for $400.oo a peice. I had alocal friend who had a Red Tiger Moto male that just killed his female and he took it to this guy's shop. I went down to see if i would want it. One thing lead to another and I ended up walking out with the Pinima and my Sting Ray. I got a deal of a life time so it was kind of a no brainer. From that point on it was set. I was going to be the Cichla MAN! And here I am today. All my friend's in the hobby think I am out of my mind and thaose who aren't in the hobby are just amazed at my collection.

I used to bartend on an Italian cruise ship a few years ago.. and I don't care what Starbucks says, their espressos and fancy coffees are poo, especially the one passed through what animal?!? I couldn't believe when I heard that, and it sells at almost 20$/cup :nilly:...damn, if that's the case, we can just pass coffee beans and sell them to Starbucks. :grinno:

I know what you mean. My girl has put a lock on me for now. :lock: I have a 350g sitting in the garage next to a Mustang that needs a trannie so I think she is getting frustrated with me and my Toy's and Fishies!

Truth is I need a break to concentrait on upgrading all my equipment on all my tank's. Also need to sell some tank's I am finally a true MFK I have grown tired and bored with anything under 100g. ;) But when I come back I am going to come back buying hard. I hear the toys and fish thing. I have a 64 fairlane sports coupe that needs a tranny and rebuilt motor. I got a heavy foot...and when I'd come home w/ rubber all over the fender wells...dad would say, " I hope your saving for a new motor". Of course not....what is saving?

The house I am at now I cant get any more tanks...and the landlord said...nothing bigger than that. Its only a 120g. So I am gonna have to move due to my fish obbsession. To a place w/ a garage....So I can get the real monster tanks!
