I have been breeding these for a while, and have found many methods of breeding severums and raising the fry, some more successful than others. I want to see what everyone else does - If you have more than one method post it as well. Just post everything you do that leads up to spawning, the spawning, and fry care.

I have breed my green severums a few times so far . I have my sev pair in a 125 with angels , dollars , BGK , pleco and cories . Rocks and driftwood deco , parameters are ammo 0 , nitrite 0 , nitrate 5 , ph 6.3 with pwc of 30% twice weekly temp 82deg , feed flakes/sticks twice a day and frozen bloodworms/shrimp in evening They have laid claim to the right side of the tank and built a mound of gravel 10 inches high to hide/protect the spawning site . They will lay eggs every 9-12 days(if no fry in tank ) on beach rocks in the site . The female will do the main fanning of the eggs and the male will defend all intruders and occasionally fan when the female eats . Only aggression to tankmates is when they come into the right 2 feet of the tank ( except the BKG who is allowed to come as he pleases with little resistance ) Eggs are usually laid the day of or after pwc . 36hour hatch time with 5-6 day to free swimming . At hatch time female will remove wigglers as the hatch and place them on a piece of driftwood next to the spawn rock . Parents will protect fry for 2 week free swimming before they are eaten (if left in the tank ) . This has around 95% hatch rate will approx 200-300 eggs . I have taken eggs after 24hours - remove the rock to a container ( no air exposure ) and transfer to and 1.5 gal tank that is in a 10gal ( 10 is heated to 83deg) methylene blue as directed on label ( I believe 10 drops per gal ) and an airstone under the rock -(Pics in another post ). Hatch and free swimming time same but hatch rate was very low . Fet tank will get 30% pwc when hatch starts and 20% daily after that . All normal basic stuff , only thing different is what I feed the fry . I start the on liquid fry food then after I see active feeding I feed "Reef roids" by Polyplab a marine invert food with 60% protein and 20% fat - I get a good feeding response and growth with it .
sorry for pics ( cell phone )
