saw a 24+ silver today with drop eye, missing barbell and it was brown on the top.
?is what would've caused the barbell to be gone and do the top of them usally turn brown.looked in sad shape

its not uncommon for an aro of that size to have a "brown" top. A silver without dropeye at that size would be an excellent find, and the barbel may be gone because of rubbing against the glass

Aro barbels can be lost many ways..
most common is jumping i'd say, followed by rubbing on the glass.
They usually grow back, not always tho

i watched national geographic's build for the kill and they once showed a wild 3 foot silver aro...they dont have any barbel and their anal fin is almost gone..maybe due to jumping or other fishes nipping them.

a silver at 3ft in the wild must have gone through hell before he reached that size :WHOA:
