Here's my cooter. The pic is a few years old. He looks about the same, but bigger with longer front claws (also, that little shell infection is all healed up ;) ).

that turtle is awsome!!!! they all are!

they are listed under CITES II back in early 2005 and their origin countries banned export. thats why you dont get to see them for sale nowadays.

o...... that sux.... how come they banned them?

elindra

o...... that sux.... how come they banned them?

Because they may be threatened with extinction if there is no control in trade...plus FRTs don't breed easily in captivity

Nice babies! If I could make a minor recommendation. These guys dry out really easily. I would switch your substrate to Eco Earth instead of bark. It holds humidity much better.

^thanks! it sure does. i thought the moss would help but i still have to mist everything down constantly. they actually alot bigger than that now & doing really well but i've been trying to figure out something different to use. i've even found mites in some bags of wood chips too :irked:

thanks for the advice :) i'll definetly look into using that instead!

Here's my RES I rescued from a dog in the park last summer:nilly:, We now call him Johnny Handsome due to all his scars. His shell is finally almost healed. currently in a 20 long, but will shortly be moving into a 30G tub that's quite shallow so he'll have some more room.:)
