Nice pick up. How much did you pay for your new plecos, and where did you get them? Looks like you are gathering yourself a pleco collection. Always a fun tank to watch, and feed. Just a word, if you have any larger pleco, the blue panaque you picked up may get bullied, they are fairly docile, and tend to get beat up regularly.

great plecos, mine loved veggies- lettuce, peas, cucumber aswell as catfish pellets. When they get bigger they enjoy prawns or pieces of freshwater trout too. And yea, this fish can be territorial when older, and can hold its own against some aggressive tankmates, including it'll always win battle for food over “weaker” plecos. Hope you havnt got 2 males! ;)

I get it in Singapore I bought 3 piece each $40 SGD after discount. So far I have no problem in my mix tank ( 3XL190, 2x L191, 2x L14 , 2X bluefins panaque, 2 x 173 n 1xLDA 7) all is ard 3 inch to 5 inch big
The only problem I encounter is when I place a L160 into the tank, LDA7n it fight like nobody business :( Now I place my L160 into another tank. It is very peaceful now . O

There are very limited detail about this fish thats I can find. So is rather hard for me to tell you more about this fish. Initailly I actually mistaken this fish as Xanto, but according to an exper what I bought is L056 http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=1004

Size: 12”
Care: 22-26 degrees C
Omnivore, feed the same as a gibby (L083), Lettuce, Peas, Frozen Spinach and any prepared food that reaches the bottom. Larger fish enjoy prawns or pieces of freshwater trout.
Other: Territorial when older, can hold its own against some aggressive tankmates. Will always win battle for food over “weaker” plecos. It will remain dark, or at least a dull black grey. They are a very interesting pleco and mine was quite active, although eventually i had to get rid of him because he was getting a bit to aggressive with my other plecos.

Is there any way to differenate Xanto n L056 , L046 ??? When I compare L056 n xanto both jus look same to me.

the xanto is a goldie color the gold fin is grey with a hints of gold just jmy experiance with this guys mine became very docile when the tank had little airation i wound using a skimmer to airate the water and a mixed diet is important try some potatoe slices cucumber try as many possible foods to keep their health up heres a pic of the one i had

I went to a LFS at singapore weeks ago, I am a regular there. They left with 3 xanto ( black ), the boss dont want sell me. His reason was he have no promise that this 3 will change color ( no sign of gold). Initally this 3 come in a batch of 20s, but due to the color this 3 was left over.

Today I went back again, one of the leave over ( 7~8 inches ), appeared the sign of yellowish a it fins n it head. So I make a compare again with xanto n L056, they are almost the same. BUt of course since that 3 leave over is with a batch of xanto, so is rather confirm that it is xanto. TOO BAD :'( my monitor jus spoilt n I change a LCD monitor which make me NO budget for fish for time being. Anyway my tank are FULL :(

Will L056 turn from black to pinkish when it under stress ????

yeah i've seen mine go pinkish as for the xanto i'm pretty sure they go mostly yellow (gold)
from the ones i've seen but i'm sure there are sub speices
