That a good looking Blue panaque. Just a word they generally are more active when kept in small groups, even as small as 2.

Bdawg they go for about 25-50 in the US.

nice, id be wary about big plecos with discus, im sure some people do it, but i've heard its not always a good thing, esp. if your hoping the discus will breed. The L239 only gets better looking as it gets bigger!

According to book L239 is actually a small pleco which range ard 4 to 6 inch only. Or anybody have encounter BIGGER blue fins ? Frankly speak I love the colour of this baby, but the disappointment is unlike Royal panaque that big.

I have one currently- I had two, possibly a pair, but the smaller one has simply vanished recently. The one thats left is active, about three inches, and looks alot like your picture- he is fighting wiht my baby mango pleco, enough that I plan to move the mango in the very near future. I think he harrassed the smaller blue panaque as well- it was very shy and I never saw it moving around if the light was on. I'm not sure if they are the type you can keep in groups, with the experience I have had so far.

For the most part Blue Panaques L239 are best kept in groups. DON'T keep males together they do fight, usually not enough to do damage, but if parameters aren't really good they can die from the higher stress of a larger male L239. I have 2 currently in my tank, and both love to hang out together. Never fighting, and always suctioned in a small area about 2" apart.

www.Exoticfinds.net has quite a selection of Exotic plecs and they are in NJ which is pretty close. also some of our members in the buy sell section have quite a selection. Check these places out you might find a pleco you like that you never even knew existed!

<------:banhim: :topic: talking about "finding" plecos, i found this Blue eyed red fin, with apparently no L# yet: http://www.aquarist-classifieds.co.uk/php/detail63_40662.php what you reckon about it wyldfya, does it look familiar or do you think its as rare as it suggests?

That is just a blue eye red bruno, L077 or L137. Not to uncommon, but the blue eye doesn't come through very well. Might be a common red bruno though. Hard to tell off of those pictures. Both of which are L077 or L137. Also known as rusty pleco or violet pleco. Formally of Cochliodon, but now a part of Hypostomus. Found in Brazil Rio Parnaiba basin. Can reach sizes of over 20 cm. Fairly easy getting along, very similar disposition to a royal. There color scheme can greatly differ. I have seen some that are a slate gray and others that look like the picture in the link. Also have seen some that are a brownish tan with eyes as intense as Panaque Suttoni's blue eyes. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

The blue eyed variety, which the one in the picture doesn't look like that, is rarer than the common variety. Kind of look at it like a Snow Aro, same fish different look.
