Hey guys! Here are some updated pictures of my newest pike Crenicichla cf. iguapina. She's colored up a bit and now has a nice orange belly and a greenish tint on her cheeks. She's fattening up a lot too, since she is finally accepting pellets.

I got her at SharkAquarium about a month ago. They had one more at the time...another female I think.

As far as I know, there is no common name. Crenicichla iguapina was only described in 2006, and only a few have made their way into the hobby. Vin Kutty helped to indentify the species as Crenicichla cf. iguapina.

"Crenicichla cf. iguapina" means that it's like...but not exactly...C. iguapina (per the holotype).

There from Argentina, I think. Any idea where it was collected?

Beautiful fish!

Thank you. I don't know where it was collected...I can only make educated guesses. Apparently the real C. iguapina comes from Sao Paulo in southern Brazil, but who knows how widespread the species is.
