Hi,
One of my yellow tail acei's been shaking around a greshaki and a yellow lab. Think they're both males, but I thought that they only shook infront of females to mate....??
What's going on?
Thanks

no i believe he is trying to establish his dominance, or they are disputing over territory and he is saying "this right here is mine!" lol. its not just a breeding stance, i have seen my africans do it over their area of rockwork

yeah my males do it all the time. It's similar to when I shake if someone comes next to my nachos.

In the absence of females, males will engage in sexual behavior with each other ...call them inmates, or something :D

They will also settle with females of other species, so in the event that you are not 100% positive that they are all males and one of them turns up with a mouthful of hybrids you should not be surprised.
