I've got to go with #7. Everything from the beautiful burrled maple cabinet work, great looking background, and the massive pair of stones it takes to keep discus with an arowana and oscar...

6 is the number for me. Almost as if they positioned the fish to come out like that, also the tank is simple and clean.

It's too bad the contest isn't even about the tank anymore, it's just who has the coolest fish like usual:(

everything has to be taken into account when judging each tank, aquascapeing is great, but the tank needs a focal point, those monocs are prefect.

i was inbetween 6 & 2, decided in the end for 2, just has a nice feeling about it to me...

than what do you suggest as a focal point for tank 8?

I like 2 and 5, ended up voting for 2...very nice looking tank.
I like number 1 too, just think the pic quality doesn't really do it justice.

german blue rams or apisto's. I'm also partial to how good the picture of the tank is taken, if the shot was darker and i couldn't see the back of the tank or the filter, with the plants/substrate popping out aswell as the flashy colors of the small cichlids, it would be great.

#6 gotta applaud the setup for those specimens- very realistic like what would have been seen in the wild at that moment.

Cheers to #6

however felt #7 has potential if the angle was better

um NO, its not like that. if there was a good planted tank setup this month, i would have voted for that because planted tanks are some of the most amazing setups. but there wasnt, so i went with the next best thing. #6 is a complete package. clean, simple setup and great looking fish that compliment the decor well.

For me it was a very hard choice between 2 and 6. This, inspite of the african entry which is very similar to my own 2 tanks....

I look forward to getting pics up soon...

Good Luck to all...!

i'm sure #7 is a great set up, but the angle of the pic just don't tell the full story. can we see a full frontal pic?

Try a black background as it will give the tank more depth and show your plants off a lot better IMO

it was a toss up between 2 and 6 but 6 got me. i love the placement of the air bubbles and the 2 huge rocks... basic pbass tanks are the way to go. if 7 would of gave a better front veiw i'm sure it would of got my vote.

Its an eclipse system, the background is a mirror :(

One thing that will help the look of your tank is hiding the equipment. You'll see a quick improvement as the hardware becomes one less thing detracting from your fish and plants.

ok im not sure how to cover the filter?

Maduro

Figure out some sort of vertical elements / structure to hide the tube (plants, rock, wood). Also, don't keep your algae scraper and clip in there when not in use. please keep in mind I think your tank is cool as is and am only offering these suggestions based on your question. Lots of folks get away with just leaning a piece of wood against the corner in front of the filter.

yeah people just vote for the fish they like in all these things. If there are more people on the site that like a certain fish then that's the winner.

6 was boring. Too much open space. Looked off balance with the fish at the bottom. I voted for 2. It just gave me a calming effect. A very light green effect to the tank. Very well proportioned with the drift wood spanning the tank.
