well yesteday a guy came in where i work and is switching over his tang tank to sw. so he gives the store two calvus, two fronts, a five bar, a brichardi, and two synos in exchange for a good deal on a new light. i was pumped as i've always like the calvus but couldn't spend the money for a group. well i ask my manager how much and he gives me both for $15...heck yea... o and they are both 4" already... couldn't affor any of the others as i was already buying a dat but couldn't hesitate on those two. i'll post some pics later
but just wondering if there's anything special to know about them (never kept em but have malawi, don't worry they are not going into the same tank). and how do you sex them? i'll post pics of both in order for the experts out there to help.

they are not that expensive when compared to some of the featherfins or enantiopus of lake tang. Love the fish though! But i wouldn't keep it in w/convicts.

and if you can locate a breeder, you can actually pick them up for less than your average mbuna.

TAKE that convict or convicts out of there, like yesterday.

I have two black calvus at about 1.75 inches. They are my favorites as well. Also have two gold calvus. Very interesting fish to observe. Downside, they take forever to grow, but worth the wait!

Nice pick up!:headbang2

will you just breath a bit. ok... the convict was gone the next day but i wasn't just going to throw the fish outside or in another tank to die just to get rid of it. i took it to work the next day after i'd gotten the calvus. and to reiterate i am not keeping it with convicts, that was in the q tank already. i wasn't going to let the calvus at the store and risk losing out on the deal. but that one convict that was in the tank is gone now so rest easy all.

we are all just tryin to help ya out. It would've been a shame for you to lose the fish because of a friggen convict. Anyways, good job gettin the convict out, good luck, and enjoy your fish!
