I was just wondering would a 20 gallon long, be good enough to house a trio of electric yellow cichlids. 1 male/2 female-male is 2.5", and both females are around 2". Or would doing this be a big NO!

I don't see why you can't. A 20 long would be good since its foot prints are almost the same as a 29 gallon but just shorter. I think you're set.
