I am planning on setting this tank up in the house soon. There is a chip/clam shell in one of the corners. I am not worried about the integrity of the glass or the tank leaking, but it is unattractive. The back is drilled already so this is the front.

Would you?:
1) Do nothing
2) Replace the pane

what size is the tank?
if you are not worried about the integrity then i would just paint a black strip over it to hide it... nothing all that great happens in the corners anyway..

NO WAY!! Thats a waste of perfectly good glass. I'd hate to hear what you would want to do if I told you that one of the side panes is cracked and needs to be replaced....
i'd go to the store and buy a klondike bar or two and watch craigslist for a good deal

That looks like a bad chip/crack, especially in a sensitive spot. I wouldnt fill that up in the condition its in.

:banhim:
or have the same buddies come over, spend the $ on new glass instead of beer and have a tank that is good as new.

I would just leave it alone and fill it. It wont effect the integrity of the tank. It is all cosmetic

I wouldn't go so far as to call that big of a chip comsmetic.
Me? I would fill it up in the garage and see if it holds. If it does, I would set it up somewhere I didn't mind havig a little (lot) of water and go with it. I wouldn't put it upstairs at all. That would be a basement only tank.

It is cosmetic. Its 3/8" glass, the chip is less than an 1/8" deep at the deepest, outermost point, and its in the top 2" of the 12 1/2" tall piece of glass.
I am already replacing one of the end pieces that was broken, so i figured if the price is right I would just replace the front as well.
I think the poll is invalid, because I wasnt asking if members thought it was safe to fill, I was asking if you would replace the pane for aesthetic reasons.
