Well I got my arowana back today, more like I had to :nilly::nilly::nilly:. It was growing out in a 125G but I had to take it down so I sold it to a friend at 8" who put it in a 200+ (forgot the size)G tank. Well his tank sprung a leak and he had to spread his fish out amongst us so I got the aro back. It's now "cruising" around my 72 bow front until the summer time and is now at 13-14", on a good note he doesn't have drop eye lol and on a bad note I'm doing 2-3 WC's a week now to keep up with the bio load. Here's some pics lol

Lol thanks guys and as much as I love having an old friend back I really don't like him being in this tank. I think it sucks for him going from a 200+ to a 72G. Not to mention I was about to buy a pike cichlid -_-. He is fun to watch gobble down shrimp though haha.

HAHA! Thanks for the great deal. But I'm gonna re-house in another friends tank for the time being. It's gonna be housed with some rays so it won't have much competition for food. Nice having it back though even if its only for a few days.

Thanks he is a good looking aro, 14" and no drop eye is a good sign. I'm thinking he might be a bit stunted though because I bought him at around 4" in may from an LFS and they basically separated their little aro's into 7" cubicles :X. Either way at this size I think he'd be much happier in a larger tank.

Most silvers don't develop DE until they are larger. At 14" the aro has grown 10" in 10 months, that is average growth rate for a silver aro. Yours is not stunted. From seeing the huge silvers that have been posted growing up in a 55g tank, I don't believe you can stunt an arowanas growth. I do believe you can make it deformed though.

^ I see your point, the aro in that goldfish bowl isn't stunted at all! LMAO. I still can't get over that. Speaking of deformed aro's I saw the strangest looking one at an LFS here in chinatown it was two feet long (maybe a little less) and about a foot in body height (not exaggerating) and it looked very old. I guess that's what a full grown aro kept in a small tank might look like :/.

Here's a link to pics of a 22" silver aro I adopted. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showpost.php?p=869671&postcount=1

It developed a hunch back when it was raised in a 4 foot tank. Once I moved it to a 180g it's back straightened out after about 3 months
