Sorry about the poor pic quality. Can you identify the species? Also I am aware that my other fish will become lunch.

There are 4. They were in a plane this morning so it's understandable that they are a little stressed.

I see a guinea lap(?), a couple congicus, an ansorgii, maybe a palmas polli.
Beautiful fish and tank!

Thanks for the compliment. Nice work on the identification with the poor picture quality and stressed polys. The large one is a Koliba, Lapradei (Nigeria), Congicus and an Ansorgii. There may be a Polli in there somewhere as I have one in my tank but it was not meant to be in the pictures. I will post updates soon. Their colours are coming in nicely. Also eating hikari carnivore pellets and frozen shrimp, smelt and krill. I was suprised they would eat the pellets so soon as I just got them on Saturday. Thet even ate them on a full belly :O.
i c a palmas polli in the 1st picture behind the plants

Sweet, are these from Toyin? If they are then don't be surprised, he tries to get all his bichirs to accept hikari carnivore before being shipped, but not all can be convinced. Most do though.
I was going to say the Koliba has beautiful color already, even before being fully settled, it's going to be a nice fish!
I'll be looking forward to the updates bizbomb, this is a very nice group of pick-ups!
Oh also, on the sword plants, do you use root tab fertilizers? I'm trying to grow some in my bichir tank to go for that same effect.

Did you git them from Kole? Those cichlids and rainbows will soon become food as the bichirs become settle down in the tank. I'm gonna force Kole to do another BIG bichirs order again. I might get a buetikoferi and a endli endli "Guinea" from him.

Good eyes IloveHebe I didn't even notice him there. Yes the Polys are from Toyin Via Kole (BC's Bichir hookup). I have had the swords now for about 10 months and I only used root tabs when I initially planted them. I also used flourish micro in the water once a week but I haven't used that for months. I noticed the swords would grow taller faster when fighting for light if another plant grew over top of them, and out if they had free access to light. Thanks for the compliments I will update this weekend perhaps. King-El I was tempted by the endli guinea but I figured if there was any bichir he had who may eat my smaller ones (7-8") it would be him. I am still contimplatin it though.

Just feed them with high protein food and regu;ar water change and they will get up to 15-18 inches in no time.

Still have all your rainbowfish? :D
I tried this combo once and it was my sens and polli going nuts trying to eat the fish.

Yes I still have all my rainbows. They have lived peacefully with my sens, polli, delhezi, ornate and endli for 5 months or so. I have however lost 11 tiger barbs, 2 kribensis, 1 4" Kenyi cichlid and 6 of so oto cats. The kenyi and tiger barbs were too big to be swallowed but they were still killed and I found their mangled bodies sometimes in the morning. I won't be sad if they get eaten. As a matter of fact I think I may get one more poly soon. A Teugelsi xD.

Yes that's the spirit! More bichirs keeper here in BC. Dude we gotta have a bichir meeting or organization to spread bichirs keepers here in BC. Not many people here are into bichirs or other monster fish. It's only been recently.:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2: headbang2:headbang2:headbang2 BICHIRS BICHIRS BICHIRS...!!!!

Thats the spirit King-eL. However I think there are quite a few bichir fans in B.C. Well on this forum anyways. Have you seen Kole's new poly's? I am kicking myself for not getting the Teugelsi when I was there getting the other polys. I guess I was just worried about him being an expensive meal for my Koliba. On another note I decided to throw in a whole smelt (without head and cleaned) just to see what would happen. I a usually afraid to do this because polys can choke and die but I figured the smelt would be too large for this too happen. My polys went into a feeding frenzy There were death rolls and everything. It ended with my Koliba swallowing the whole thing. Next time I will make a video and post it.

I actually cut them to small pieces and feed them even the head.
Other places to go for cheap frozen food is T&T.
Feed them frozen gobies as they tend to grow fast. They only cost $3.99 for 400g. They will also have frozen weather loaches sometimes.
Another place to go is Langley farm market.
They alos have frozen gobies, frog legs and other high protein meaty food that your bichirs will love to eat. They also cost $4.99 for a 400g.
Or any Chinese market that carry unusual frozen foods.
I might come and visit Kole tonight at 8pm or tomorrow Saturday at 8pm.

Not all T&Ts carries them. The one here in Surrey Central carries them all the time. As well as Langley Market at Kingsway close to King Ed.
