Just thought id show my favourite tank.

These 2 guys are my most favourite fish ive ever kept.

figured I'd drop by and say hello to all, been awhile...you know all my other fish and tanks-if you know me....here is the newest housing my young 6-8" cichla. This is the 450gal tank 6ft x 4ft x 30" and is home to rio tocantins,rio tapajos, and eastern brazilian temensis along with cichla occellaris and monoculus....dithers are tilapia and firmouths....plecos inc. a 8" adonis and a 4" L204. Also have a 12" niger cat and 6 7" suncats in this tank......think thats it. enjoy

Got this male today from a good fish friend. Had 2 big males and a large female in a seperate tank. The 3 were raised in a 8x3x2.5 with an african lungfish. Once the smaller male and the female spawned they were seperated leaving the two males and the lungy. Managed to convince him to part with it to join my two peacocks. Now 2M 1F, on the search for another lady.

The big boy is a solid 22/23" smaller male is about 17" female is about 14".

Sorry about the quality of pics, the tank is still quite dark and the fish are settling in still. Although you can see the color difference between them. The big boy is a nice yellow.

Man i love the Pbass.. There is on shop here in Hong kong that has a pbass that looks like the one trust posted and its about a foot and a half.. so sweet looking... its in a tank ith about 10 other fish. including two monster dats and bunch of monster cichlas.. i'd love to take pics of that tank but the shop is run by a bunch of scary looking triads.. so i can't.. i get scared...

So you can see the difference between the Cichla Tocantins Azul and Cichla Araguaia Azul. Also the difference between the Cichla Orinocensis Venezuela Sp. and the true Cichla Orinocensis. There's a big difference.;) I am pretty much done with Cichla collecting ever since a recent incedent on another board which put a bad taste in my mouth:swear: Plus I have ran out of space.:headbang2

I just did more search. I believe my guess may be right. They Rio Tapajos are the "temensis type" I believe they are the ones referred to as Cichla sp. Lower Amazonas. Similar to my Rio Tocatins Cichla.

If there is a lake near your place check it out for mosquito fish, aka gambusia. I've been catching hundreds of them witha small dip net. They look like female feeder guppies and all my baby monsters which includes 5 inch arowanas, love them:)

me and jon have been going to the lake behind our house to catch feeders for the bass,
not sure what kind of feeders they are, but they are eating them... some of them seem too big for them though. but later today well go catch some more maybe.

Also, we went to pet supermarket today and i bought alittle baby jack dempsey, lol it was only 2 bucks . do you think the bass will have a problem with it? the jack dempsey seems big enough not to have any problems.

not sure what kind of feeders they are, but they are eating them... some of them seem too big for them though. but later today well go catch some more maybe.

Also, we went to pet supermarket today and i bought alittle baby jack dempsey, lol it was only 2 bucks . do you think the bass will have a problem with it? the jack dempsey seems big enough not to have any problems.

I don't have experience with Jack Dempsey and PB in the same tank. Just watch them and split them up if any gets hurt.

Stranger things have happened when they do happen.

These bunch literally threw themselves at my feet while I was fishing the other day.

They were part of a school of young PB being attacked by a pack of big PB and large mouths.
They jumped onshore trying to escape. I was able pick up these guys by my feet.:D

I owe their beauty to MFK... If I never stumbled on to MFK these fish wouldn't even be alive today. I went through five cichla death's because I never new that the temp had to be kept high etc. The LFS's around here didn't know **** about them, always telling me to never let the temps get higher than 76 degs when they are young juvi's.

These ones I have now were listed as ocellaris, even the orino. I remember when I bought the orino they were telling me that it's wasn't a tem or mono and it had to be a ocellaris. At that time I had already found MFK and knew for sure it was an orino. When I saw it in the tank, it was like a dream come true. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would see one around here.

1st picture:
Picked these up from Wes. Wild caught Cichla sp. from Brazil.
2 inches. I like their toned, torpedo shaped bodies. Very clean fishes.

2nd picture:
Picked these up from R1_Ridah.
Orino's. 2 inches. Showing nice yellow markings already. Note that the tail markings are different in each fish. Some say the black horizontal stripe must end at the base to be an orio. This is only found in 1 of the 3 fishes. Will be interesting to see how all three develop.

I also think tems look better in planted though. I think the greens and all the light makes their skin lighter so the colors come through better..

sadly the first one i had passed a couple days ago, he started not looking so good on the 3rd day of being in my tank, he was put into my hospital tank so i could keep an eye on him, and keep him away from the other one, but he would not eat and stayed mostly in one spot

so anyway, this one is already turning into a monster, he'll eat anything that hits the water, and he's growing fast too
