I couldnt resist....:( I have hundreds of square feet of acrylic just going to waste in my garage. I'm trying to wean myself away from my tanks because by next month all of my tanks will be gone except for this one. But I can't!? I must tinker! What am I going to do with myself when all my tanks are gone!?
I might have to start reading or something. My god, can you imagine that!!??

how thick is the acrylic? maybe you can build and sell some monster tanks!

04-05-2009, 10:45 PM
sorry buddy but it came out amazing! and your house looks sick!

Camshaft Ramrod
04-05-2009, 10:46 PM
It's not thick enough. It's best used for sumps, overflow boxes and other small things.
I'm actually thinking about making some kind of art sculpture, water fountain type peice.
Should be cool. I have some blue acrylic I can use also. Maybe melt the two together and stuff. It might be cool.

Wow!!! That's stunning. Great work. I approve, but your cat looks pissed. Probably because it knows it wont be able to drink out of the sump.

fishman646
04-05-2009, 10:48 PM
its 1/4 inch im guessing? and that will be sweet

Camshaft Ramrod
04-05-2009, 10:53 PM
Yeah, 1/4 and 3/16.

My cat would drink out of the sump if he could. He's slow. He drinks out of my bathtub.
When I go in the bathroom, whether it be for the sink or the toilet, he runs in and jumps in the tub and stairs at me.
Now that I think of it, I turn on my tub faucet at least 5 times a day so that stupid cat can drink....A cat training a human. niice...

And there's 2 different cats in those pics.

build a multi-compartment mini tank for betta breeders, im sure some would buy them.
Sumps, and over flow boxes. sell them to bring in some income.

I think the micron is 150.
Have yet to set them up to see if they clog quick. They shouldnt though. Even if they did, there's a spot for a filter pad above the bio just in case. And if that clogs, I made it so it can overflow right into the last chamber and back into the tank. I should be good. Not worried about the bio. I still have to build an overflow box. Then I can hook it up.

Also IN the first chamber with the socks, I will be filling that with live rock.

It's 22". And there are no blueprints lol. I pieced it together in my head and just started building. I just, you know, used a measuring tape and a pencil. Then I cut and glued. lol. That's how camshaft roles. Improvise that s@#$ hahah.

Very nice. You should make and sell those to all the DIY non-gifted people on here. One question, is the cat a necessary part of building the sump and if so, is an all black one required or will any color cat do?

Camshaft I agree advertise these things and b uild them for people that is an awesome sump. I would buy one if I was working. you are very ingenious when it comes to DIY and you do great work. advertise on here and at the LFS make a deal with a few local places and never know a couple hundred bucks a month is a help to anyones wage and keeps you involved in the hobby we hate to lose you.

Awesome build!
I agree 4'x6"x6" or 8"x6" betta barracks with adjustable dividers would sell.
So would that sump!;)

Thanks for the heads up everybody.
I think I'm going to try and build that betta rack.
With all my tanks being gone soon, I'll need something to occupy my time.
I'll put a thread up when I'm done.

I was thinking the other day that if I had a big pile of acrylic laying around I'd build a wide shallow tank for my mini catfish collection. Just another idea if bettas dont float your boat.
