I was at my friends pet store and he does trade ins but when he gets meaner things like piranhas and Bigger chiclids he usually gives me a ring to see if I want them or If I know anyone that does. Anyway he recently got a freshwater puffer fish in on a tradein and he is really tight on tank space so he was going to give it to me. The puffer itself is about 4-5 inches. He is a darker black color with yellow spots and has red eyes. They guy that traded it in said it was some type of river puffer I'll try and get a picture up for you I'm new to this whole forum stuff.

any help appreciated

Welcome to MFK!!!

We really need to see a pic in order to ID it. Especially when quite a number of puffer species could fit your description.

simply click "go advanced" then manage attachments, and attach the file that's on your comp.

Are Target puffer strictly freshwater or do they need aquarium salt in the tank wiht them. The only puffer expereince I have is when I did saltwater I had a porcupine puffer.
