i have a sump with 300 bio balls and i allways shut it off during feeding time for about 2 min, well i forgot to turn it back on and it was off for 24 hr.
do you guys think i kill the bacteria on the bio balls?
how long can they live with out the pump running?

I think you will be fine. I dont really have any facts as far as what resilience the bacteria has but I think they are pretty tough.

Agreed. As long as it didnt dry up you should be good to go.

depends on if the was enough oxygen to sustain them through the 24 hrs

The bacteria should be fine. 24 hours really isn't long enough to kill off a significant amount.

test the sump water.. if its toxic then 24 hours was to long... if its fine.. then you are fine....

5 minutes to test is much better than Xtime to recycle the tank and Xmoney to replace all the fish you killed...
