change that coco stuff out and put in some nice dirt, the Savannah will begin to make burrows if the dirt is deep enough.

heres one my male argus im raising up to breed to one of my females. he was born in the middle of nov and is about 29 inches now

Ah thats just a holding box for when i'm cleaning ou the viv. It's Summer here in Ireland so he's been out in the garden allot, he started digging a burrow out there the other day! he's v.aggressive as I adopted him and previous owner neglected him.

Would've posted better pics, but my internet isn't working great, today and it takes FOREVER for my photobucket to load. I'm very anal about my pics and keep going back, looking at the ones I posted, annoyed. lol

Thanks for the compliment, Mike D. He really is great...definately not the typical "killer Croc Monitor" you always hear people talking about. I posted the pic, of me holding his head, on a monitor forum and thought people were gonna come after me with pitch forks and torches. You wouldn't believe the beating I took, for that pic.

ive found that reps that have been taken out of bad situations are tamer. its worked like that with alot of stuff i have rescued in the past. my big igg right now was adopted by me and hes one of the tames herps ive ever had. and ive herd horror stories about larger iggs. i know a croc monitor is different.

You dont have to tame it like that. In fact interact with it in its cage. Savs dont take to the water too often so i might be a deterant.

ghostknifefish0909 (http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/member.php?u=22164) your savannah looks ok but not great. Get it off those wood chips and put a good 8-12 inches of dirt in the tank and cover the top of the tank with foil or make a custom top

buy bags of top soil and peat moss and sand. make your own mix.

just make sure there are no chemicals added to it. thats what i do

BSMM
04-13-2009, 10:46 PM
You can get it from outside as long as no pesticides have been used where you are digging for the dirt. I get mine from the woods behind my house then i go to home depot or lowes to get some sand to mix in with it.

Salt Life

what if there is some thing in the dirt how do i know
i might get it in the woods

Mike D
04-15-2009, 10:10 PM
depending on where you live depends on what is in the dirt. i dug dirt from outside once. i got home from work and the tank was covered in ants. i dug the dirt while it was still coldish out. ants stayed hidden in the dirt until they heated up and then it was al over. and i checked all around where i was digging for signs of ants. granted it only happened once but i ahve been buying and mixing my own ever since. its cheap enough to do, and id rather have the peice of mind knowing there isnt anything in there.

Perfectly healthy and this guy is a maniac, when you put food near him. Our Croc will gently take food, from tongs but this guy comes at you, like a freight train, when he knows you're holding mice.
