If we managed to get everyone to sign the petition, how much of an impact would it make on the decision? i see other sites saying no to hr669, but just how many people do we need to get it rejected? what are our current odds? are we "winning"?

I'm sorry to say this but slim to none, I can't really post my political views due to the TOS but I'll say this. once a law/reg is past it's seldom overturned. The best idea I can come up with is fight it based on the current economical climate, every LFS/breeder/importer/wholesaler would stop trading over night, fight it on job losses, Just MO

here's the good news, if I understand it correctly...
[correct me if I'm wrong , I am often]
the bill goes to the sub committee....
they can:
reject entirely (our best scenario)
pass on to main committee (as is)
pass on to main commitee (with ammendments... 2nd best scenario)
then main committee
does same as above
to go to the whole house for a vote
then the bill goes to the senate
which can do same as above
then : if both house of reps AND senate agree on a bill
it goes to President Obama for signature to become Law
The President can:
not sign it
and it's all over...
sign it
and we are doomed
the good news is
this will take MONTHS at least
to become Law
BUT
if we can end it in the subcommittee
it would be most fortunate
so PLEASE write those LETTERS

Just so you know a bill just like this was passed in Connecticut a week or so ago. So this could and can be passed. Do you really want to take the chance?

TOS prevents a complete answer, but this country made a desicion to go with authoritarianism so now we will reap what we have sown.
The truth is there is nothing we can do to prevent this. There is no effective opposition in Congress. So, lose your pets and be happy about it. You, at least the majority of this country, voted for it. Yay.
