I have a 135g that is heavily stocked with jurupari and clown loaches. I'm feeding heavily to grow them up. I have no problem with bio, weekly 30% water change, nitrates hit 20-30 by the end of the week. If I wait two weeks it goes up to 50 nitrates. I feel pretty confident that my bio capacity is good. However I do have alot of free floating material in the water.

I assume this partly due to the heavy load, and eartheaters constantly kicking up waste.

Filtration:
1x Eheim 2028
2x Eheim 2026
2x Aquaclear 500
All the filters have sponge pre-filters on them. Coarse sponge for pond pre-filters.

I'm considering cleaning up my tank view, by eliminating some clutter from sponges/filters.

I'm wondering if 2 fluval fx5 added to the system will take care of my mech filtration needs. Eheim is awesome for bio, as we all know.

I'm hoping I could lower the equipment shown in the tank, by running.
2x Fx5 and
1x Eheim 2028

IF anyone has any insight, to keep the floaties out of the water, one of the eheims has a whole tray of filter floss to help keep it clean. Any of tricks from the eartheater crowd?

I'm also hoping the gph will add some flow to the tank. Eheims slow output make for a pretty tame current, esp using spray bars.

I am also considering taking off the pre-filters. It'll take alot of clutter out of the tank. Also it may be hindering the amount of poo the filter can directly suck in.

Thanks,
Cory

i use both FX 5 and Eheim 2028 on my 120 gallon! i would go with ur idea of duel FX 5 and the Eheim it sounds awesome. u dont need the prefilters if u use heavy sand/ gravel and raise the intakes of all 3 filters. i got some big eaters that make a big mess! i know you will be satisfied!

Yep start with one FX5 their mechanical ability is awesome. And bio will never be an issue with a 2026. Basically I would plagiarize Deaths sting.
