it is best not to use sand as leos are clumsy eaters at all ages and will get sand in what they eat which can and a lot of the time will lead to impaction
the best substrate is a solid one like repti carpet or paper towel
I personally use ceramic tile which looks great and since there is so much variety in the stuff your color options are almost endless
so please get your geckos off of a particle substrate
I love the geckos though!

Sand doesn't make for a good substrate for juveniles but as adults it is fine. You can also not feed them on the sand by placing a tupaware top on the sand and feeding on that or some other spot that has no sand.

Yeah i dont feed them in the sand, i take them out and put them in an empty 10 gallon tank come feeding time.
