My mbu is finally living it up in the 750g. He was in a small hospital tank for the last 2 weeks healing from a bacterial infection and injuries caused by his tankmates while I was on vacation. Minus 30 some odd tankmates later (mbuna cichlids) he is now happy and king of the tank.

Sweet! He doesn't attack any fish?

So far so good. The mbuna were too aggressive for him and attacked his tail/fins so they had to go.

No crays yet. I can only find cajun seasoned crays at the store :grinno: He eats shrimp and mussels for now and Sunday the local grocery is getting in some clams for me.

Not too many asain markets in central Ohio :) but thanks, I'll keep my eyes open. My lfs has them for $1.59 but I'm sure I can find cheaper.

I'll work on a full tank shot but the mbu is by far the most impressive fish in there due to his size. When some of the smaller guys grow out (d. sexfasciatus. buttikoferi, oreochromis, buccochromis, niger and irwini, mad barbs, hampala etc) the tank will look better. Oh and I forgot about the wildcard...........

The irwini is ~10" and the nigers are 9" and 5" so nothing to look at compared to shamoo but give me some time:naughty:

I'll give her a few days to heal up. All seems well though, I just checked on her and she was playing in the current :)

There's a new all female species of cray called the marbled crayfish. They reproduce asexually. Currently the world health organization is conducting research into their efficacy as a food source for people and animals all over the world. I've seen them once at a LFS, and I hear they reproduce exponetially. One cray becomes a bunch of crays and then all those crays become a bunch of crays. They were discovered in germany a few years ago in a hobbyist tank. They don't occur in the wild. If you could pick one of these up then you could have free crays forever.

He's put on a little more size and is now 14"+. He hasn't killed any tankmates in awhile but occassionally takes a bite of a dorsal. I'm getting rid of more of the cichlids soon which I'm sure he will appreciate.

:irked: Geez.

I'm surprised he doesnt eat those cichlids. Awesome fish, by the way.

And to the above poster, the mbu puffers grow to about 2-3 feet.

time for an Update Kevin. I know the puffers bigger. Have you thinned the african stock out anymore?

KNH

He's about 15.5" now. I don't have a current pic but give me some time and I'll update him. Most of the africans are gone, I think I have about 6 of the nicest looking ones left.
