Ok,
So what species would look good and more natural with my Monos? I have a Small Mouth, Large Mouth, and a RTC. Would a nice spotted gar or two go well with them?

If you want the natural look, lose the lmb, smb and add rays, arows, and geos.

Pretty much any fish that dewell in the mid to bottom areas of the tank.
What do you mean by "natural?"
Obviously, the LMB and SMB don't naturally go with cichla... You know that, right?

I like flashy fish... I like to see them move around the tank... my daughter loves to watch them... what about a RTC x LSN? Or just an LSN? are those cats good?

RTCxLSN???as in lima shovelnose?
ive never heard of that hybrid before.
LSN are good catfish to put with pbass....dont grow too big...but ive heard they grow slow.
so watch out for that.
but i think an adult pbass wouldnt be able to eat an adult lima.
get a shoal of redhook silver dollars?
flashy fish that swim alot.
they get decently sized too.

Ant the tank will be almost complete.. Now for the plants you were talking about? where in the world do i get them?

i ended up selling them cause i was sick of having them eat everything up.
maybe get six of em?
as for plants....well...im not a plant guy.
i just use java fern which i get at the lfs.
and i cant even keep java fern alive for more than a few months...

Pacus would look cool if you're going for a south american natural tank. they will ruin your plants if you have them though

how big is your tank?
Leiarius marmoratus or L. pictus is a good cat.

Try some h.psittacus . I have 9 cichla in with 2 green terrors 1 silver aro and a h psittacus and I love the combo. True parrots are cool fish
As well
I had 5 uarus with my pbass. That worked well until the dominant male decided to pick on the big pbass... Lights out...
Get a o. niger. Finding one big enough would be the issue. They have the nice rip saw body but small mounts. Iriwinis look good, but tend to be more reclusive. Again finding size is the issue.
Another good fish would be some kind of a wolf.
How big is the tank you're going to have these fish in?

I have cichla with my cichla and I love it. Careful with the two aro's, normally one will get it's butt kicked by the other.

A bit confused with your question and what you are trying to do, you say natural but picked up 2 arowanas to go with your cichla...a bit confusing bro, can you please clarify if you are just looking for tankmates or you are looking for tank mates that cichla would be with in the wild?
